Burton Young was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1967, which replaced his Bachelor of Laws Degree or LL. B., conferred in 1950.

Mr. Young is a Board Certified Marital and Family Lawyer by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education.

Mr. Young has been nationally recognized by Naifeh & Smith's "The Best Lawyers in America," Seaview Putnam from 1983 through the present; "The Best Lawyers in the U.S.," Town & Country in June, 1985, and was named one of the "43" Top Divorce Lawyers in Nation by National Law Journal in 1987. AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Mr. Young has been distinguished through peer review as having attained the highest level of legal ability and professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence.

He has been the recipient of many other recognitions, including the Distinguished Floridian Award from the Florida International University & Forum of North Dade County in 1993 and the Distinguished Fellow Award, Fl. Chapter, A.A.M.L., in 1995. The Florida Bar Foundation awarded him with the Medal of Honor and the President's Award of Merit in 1998. Mr. Young received the First Professionalism Award from the First Family Law American Inn of Court in 1999 and the ADL Torch of Liberty Award in 2001.

Mr. Young is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, serving as President of the Florida Chapter from 1981 to 1983. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
